Title based on content of series.
Series consists of manuscript drafts and proofs of McNamara's novels,
poems, a list of epigraphs for inclusion in manuscripts, and a lecture.
Arrangement has been made alphabetically by title, with files under each
title arranged according to the contents. Published titles appear in italics,
while materials not for publication or unpublished by April 2007 appear
in normal type. Title from contents of series.

Series consists of 16 journals or notebooks kept by McNamara. These journals
record his literary notes but also his daily activities. Volumes were
not used sequentially but in a concurrent fashion. Often there are substantial
gaps in the text, with many blank pages. McNamara edited some of the earlier
volumes at a later date, supplying missing dates. All journals are handwritten.
