Back to J Index Johnson, E. Pauline, 1861-1913 E. Pauline Johnson fonds. -- 1870-2003; predominant 1892-1913. -- 1.25 m of textual records, moving images, graphic material, and realia. Includes 1 video cassette and 1 compact disk. E. Pauline Johnson, poet and platform entertainer, was born on the Six Nations Reserve near Brantford, Canada West (Ontario). Her poems first appeared in the New York magazine, Gems of Poetry, and thereafter in numerous British and North American journals. Her books include The White Wampum (1895), Canadian Born (1903), Flint and Feather (1912), Legends of Vancouver (1911), The Shagganappi (1912), and The Moccasin Maker (1913). She died in Vancouver on 7 March 1913. There have been many accruals, all of which are described in the same finding aid. The first four accruals have been combined and described in 12 series: correspondence; manuscripts by Johnson; manuscripts about Johnson; financial documents; postcards, photographs and drawings; published materials written by Johnson; published material about Johnson; research and general interest material; promotional material, programmes and posters; souvenirs and travel memorabilia; scrap books; and realia. Additional, smaller accruals follow and consist of photographs, correspondence, news clippings, posters, sheet music, periodicals, programmes, realia and a compact disk. Books belonging to Johnson have been catalogued for Research Collections. Researchers may also wish to consult the Walter Jackson McCrea fonds. Title based on content of the fonds.
