Greenwood, John Danforth Herman John Danforth Herman Greenwood fonds. -- 1908-1970. -- 1.7 m of textual records and graphic material. John Danforth Herman Greenwood (1889-1975) was an English composer born in London and educated at the Royal College of Music in London. Most of his professional activity was as a composer, conductor and musical director for film and theatrical productions. He wrote scores for nearly fifty films. During World War I he worked on the staff of the BBC European Service as Assistant Music Supervisor. The fonds is arranged in the following series: Orchestral Works, Chamber Music, Vocal Works and Songs, Choral Works, Piano Works, Correspondence. His correspondence includes letters from Sir Adrian Boult (1889-), Sir Alexander Korda (1893-1956), Sir Arthur Bliss (1891-1975), Alfred Cortot (1877-1962) and Lord Laurence Olivier (1907-). Title based on the content of the fonds.
