Canadian Union of Public Employees. Local 167 (Hamilton, Ont.) Canadian Union of Public Employees. Local 167 (Hamilton, Ont.) fonds. -- 1952-1989. -- 2.32 m of textual records. This local was established in November 1952 as the Hamilton Municipal Employees' Association of the National Union of Public Employees. The latter union merged with the National Union of Public Employees in 1963 to form the Canadian Union of Public Employees. Local 167 represents the workers of the Macassa Lodge and the Wentworth Lodge Nursing Homes. These workers include nursing assistants, cleaning and kitchen staff, and health-care aids. In 2000 Local 167 Joined with Local 5 to form Local 5167. Fonds consists of minute books (general membership, executive board, and grievance committees), agreements, proposals for negotiations, reports, and correspondence. The fonds also contains materials relating to traffic signal repairmen, Parking Authority, Dundurn Castle, Flamborough, Dundas, Heritage Village, and other locals (1797, 2177, and 3042). Title based on the content of fonds.
