Colombo, John Robert, 1936- John Robert Colombo fonds. -- 1938-1983; 1954-1982 predominant. -- 14.5 m of textual records, sound recordings and graphic material. John Robert Colombo, a prolific poet, editor, anthologist, and translator, was born on 24 March 1936 in Kitchener, Ontario. He was educated at Waterloo College, Waterloo, Ontario and the University of Toronto. His anthologies are mainly concerned with Canadiana. He served as editor of the Tamarack Review which ceased publication in 1981. There is a biographical sketch by J. David Morrow in Library Research News, 1, no. 5 (February 1971): 2-4. There have been four accruals. The first accrual is arranged into the following series: special topics: correspondence, documents, news clippings and ephemera; manuscripts and printed works, prose; manuscripts and printed works, poetry; manuscripts and printed works, translations; manuscripts and printed works, other authors; private press materials; Walt Whitman-Richard Maurice Bucke materials. The second accrual is roughly arranged into the following series: incoming correspondence, outgoing correspondence, book manuscripts, notes and worksheets for reference books, poetry manuscripts, miscellaneous, and Tamarack Review materials. The third accrual is arranged into the following series: incoming correspondence, outgoing correspondence, manuscripts, Hounslow Press material, other materials, including Tamarack Review materials. The fourth accrual is arranged into four series: manuscripts by Colombo; correspondence; manuscripts not by Colombo; miscellaneous notes and printed materials. Title based on content of the fonds.
