his sister Emma). 4 p. (light browning and foxing; creased with marginal
tears at fold).
Other correspondence:
Letters appointing W.H. Dayas as Principal Professor of Pianoforte at
the Royal Manchester College of Music, signed by the Registrar, July 11,
1896 and March 27, 1901. Each 1 p., (creased at folds).
Invitation to supper following a concert with the Mayor and Mayoress of
Manchester, June 1 [no year]. 1 p., on embossed card stock (slightly soiled
and creased).
Telegram to E[mma] L. Dayas in Utrecht from violinist Adoph Brodsky, announcing
W.H. Dayas's death. 1 p. (creased at folds).
Letter from Gerda Busoni to Dayas's daughter Karin. Berlin, June 30, 1929.
In German. 2.5 pp. Recalling the first performance in Berlin on November
l0, 1904 of Busoni's piano concerto [opus 39], which was to have been
dedicated to W.H. Dayas. Because Dayas died before having a chance to
see the work, Busoni published it without a dedication. Busoni's widow
is collecting her husband's letters and wonders if Karin has the letters
the composer had sent to her father; "he loved him infinitely".
