Box 2

Album, brown, belonging to Dr. W.E. Steele, a medical doctor, of Leinster House, Dublin, Ireland. The album contains correspondence addressed to Dr. Steele as well as some autographs collected by Steele, including that of Anthony Trollope (1815-1882). The date range of the items is 1855-1916 with the majority of the items dating from the 1800s. The Brown library bookplate has been pasted in the album.

Album, black leather, containing various letters and news clippings, [1788]-1936, collected by an unknown collector, possibly Brown. Several of the letters were written by the 4th and 5th Earls of Guilford. There are also letters from several authors including Alfred Austin (1835-1913), poet laureate, E.F. Benson (1867-1940), and Hilaire Belloc (1870-1953) . The album has been annotated in a hand which is not Brown's. The Brown library bookplate has been pasted in the album.

Album, black, containing various letters, 1763-1906, collected by an unnown collector, possibly Brown. An index has been provided to the letters in the same hand as the previous album. The index has been photocopied and placed in the finding aid binder. In addition to the files and albums listed above there are 19 binders containing photocopied title pages of books in Barry Brown's collection, together with an annotation regarding their shelf location.
